As Head of Security at The Shard & Director Site Security, Bloomberg European Headquarters, Kevan worked with developers, architects and consultants contributing to the technical and physical security features during the construction phases and produced plans and procedures for operating the sites.
At The Shard, he introduced the first security strategy, counter terrorism, public order & emergency plans and procedures that proved to be instrumental in successfully protecting people and property and an effective response to multiple incidents.
Key to success was partnership working with :
- Metropolitan Police Service
- London Fire Brigade
- British Transport Police
- National Counter Terrorism Policing
- Southwark Council
- National Counter Terrorism Security Office
- Network Rail
Engagement with specialist departments within these organisations that included Firearms, Royalty & Specialist Protection, Counter Terrorism Command & Specialist Response led to participation in multi-agency exercises and support in producing confidential security plans.
Under his leadership events such as the Greenpeace Climb, Royal visits, Base Jumper incident and building evacuations, which attracted wide TV news coverage, were operationally successful, a testament to the comprehensive emergency preparedness and response plans, supported by a programme of multi-agency table top exercises.
Kevan is recognised for his collaborative approach, which was demonstrated at Bloomberg and The Shard when he successfully introduced multi-agency partnership working, including engagement with Government, Police & Fire services at strategic & operational levels. He was a member of the Project Griffin London Board, Deputy Chairman Southwark Community Security Zone, member of the Cross – Sector Safety & Security Communications Hub Consultative Committee and the Project Servator working group.
